Quite Simply an Outstanding Dress Watch - Grand Seiko SBGY007 Omiwatari Review (Atelier DE GRIFF)
Visit us at https://atelierdegriff.com Support us via https://shop.atelierdegriff.com They say perfection doesn’t exist, but after going hands-on with this watch, I’m not so sure anymore! The official reference for this watch is SBGY007, more commonly referred to as the Omiwatari. It gets this nickname from a natural phenomenon which occurs in Japan. Lake Suwa, a large lake in central Japan, freezes if winter is harsh enough. a jagged ridge sometimes forms in the ice due to differences in temperature between day and night, causing the ice surface to stretch. The pattern this then creates can be quite long and with a bit of imagination looks like a pathway as if a giant or a God crossed the ice. Omiwatari essentially means God’s crossing. On my 6.5’’ wrist this watch wears like a dream. It is basically everything I’ve personally ever wanted in a dress watch by Grand Seiko. A gorgeous dial, time only with no date, no power reserve on the dial, all the subtle finishes that make a Grand Seiko watch so special, the unique spring drive movement, a thin case and a diameter of around 38mm. It is essentially perfect, not just on paper, but certainly also on the wrist. If you hadn’t guessed already, I am head over heels for this one. If you have a chance to check these out in the metal, definitely swing by your local AD or Boutique. #grandseiko #sbgy007
