458 - XS458 Lightning T5 Cockpit Tour 24th May 2014
A short cockpit tour of Russell Carpenter's English Electric Lightning T5 (trainer variant with two seats) by Dennis Brooks who used to fly these wonderful machines. If you purchase a 'Lightning Experience' or 'Lightning Run' you will get a longer version of this tour by Dennis. Here is a taster, to give you an idea of what some of the main controls do. I was also instructed how to operate several switches for the start-up procedure. Dennis also spent a lot of time answering my questions regarding things such as what was the difference between the versions (F2 and 2a regarded as a nice one by many), and how long did the fuel last (45 mins or 10 mins more on the F6), how many flights/hours has he done (nearly 2000 hours on these). Details at www.Lightningt5.com Video made by Laurie Calvert. Sorry about the few drops of rain (it was spitting), and the wind noise (airfields are generally windy by nature). Also the cockpit is extremely tight on space, so there was even a touch of noise as the windshield hit the dash. Internet search 'Calvertfilm'.
