Bald Cypress Bonsai - Numadori - Deep Flute

Large bald cypress numadori pulled this year. It has incredibly deep flutes at the base of the tree. This is the full collection video from start to finish. Evan Pardue of Underhill Bonsai taught me the word “numadori”. He correctly deduced that if the “yama” in “yamadori” means mountain, and “dori” means collected that there must be a way to say “swamp collected”. That’s when Evan found “numa” which means swamp or marsh. I have found “沼採り” (numadori) on Japanese web sites. A Japanese speaking person gave me the characters. Translation programs translate it as “marsh picked”. This is why I firmly believe it is the correct term. There are many other “dori” and “tori” words, of course. “Yamidori” meaning illegally/darkly/illicitly collected is also a correct term. The fact that it differs from yamadori by one letter pretty funny.
