Paul Caldwell - Black is the Colour - video

Black Is The Colour: This is my take on the old Celtic folk song, originally from Scotland. I could never find the person who wrote the lyrics, even though the arrangement has been credited to an American song collector. The song has been covered by many great musicians over the years, including the amazing Nina Simone. It was first brought it to my attention by Christy Moore at a live show in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, aside from being played in bars that I frequented, that was the first time I heard it. I then remember reading the lyrics for the first time, they had an overwhelming feeling of darkness. I listened to it over and over, I've been hooked on this song ever since. The thing about all great songs is they make you feel part of the story and you relate to it in your own way. This song does that for me and much more. This video is depicted by a picture I often have In my head while singing this song, then brought to life by Kale Beaudry and myself.
