I play solo on a local server without mods. I've sped up crafting time for a more comfortable gameplay, and sometimes (when I remember) I set the daylight time to 99 minutes to avoid wandering around in the dark. Since I haven't explored the map much, I play on medium difficulty settings to avoid getting frustrated at every turn, which allows me to poke my nose into every corner of the world.
