LIVING IN PORTUGAL IS GETTING WORSE THAN YOU THINK… Buying a house in Lisbon today is up to 250% more expensive than less than 10 years ago. In 2022 alone, after the pandemic, real estate prices soared by more than 20%. And for us mere mortals, it has become even more difficult to rent a house for a fair price. To give you an idea, in Lisbon or Porto, a person spends on average two minimum wages just on rent. In other words: living alone in these cities is becoming impossible for ordinary people. But then comes the real shock: Portugal is one of the countries with the most abandoned houses in Europe. However, at the same time, the economy is increasingly dependent on tourism, making everything more expensive and the Portuguese people themselves suffer as a result. But beyond all that, what is really happening in Portugal that no one tells you? Is it still possible to live here? Or is this the beginning of the end… even for the Portuguese themselves?
