Professor Lee Seon-gyeong, author of the new book "The Eyes of the Book of Changes," currently serves as the President of the Korean Society of Book of Changes and the Korea-China Philosophy Association, and is a visiting professor in the Department of Philosophy at Chosun University. Dr. Lee studied the Book of Changes at National Taiwan Chengchi University, received a doctorate from Sungkyunkwan University for his research on the late Joseon Dynasty's Book of Changes, and served as editorial team leader for the publication of the Korean Book of Changes at the Sungkyunkwan University Institute of Confucian Culture. It's difficult to discuss Eastern and Korean philosophy without mentioning Dr. Lee's family background. This conversation took place at the home of his father, Professor Lee Dong-jun. Professor Emeritus Lee Dong-jun of Sungkyunkwan University served as Dean of the College of Confucian Studies and Graduate School of Confucian Studies at Sungkyunkwan University, Director of the Institute of Taedong Classics at Hallym University, and founder and director of the Institute of Korean Thought. Furthermore, Dr. Lee's grandfather was Haksan Lee Jeong-ho (1913–2004), a leading figure in the study of Jeong-yeok, a new type of book that embodies Gaebyeok ideology. Professor Haksan served as the president of Chungnam National University. Professor Lee Dong-jun's older brother-in-law, Ryu Seung-guk (1923-2011), is a close student and colleague of Haksan's. Professor Ryu Seung-guk is Dr. Lee Seon-gyeong's maternal uncle. Professor Lee Dong-jun built this Gwacheon house over 40 years ago, where three generations—Haksan Lee Jeong-ho, Professor Lee Dong-jun, and Dr. Lee Seon-gyeong—lived together, and Professor Ryu Seung-guk was a frequent visitor.
