What to do with the sourdough starter discard? It seems so wrong to throw it out and there is only so many crumpets and flat breads that a person can enjoy! Here, J shares her recipe for chocolate brownies, using the sourdough starter discard. For this particular video, the discard was collected over two weeks, kept in the fridge and then brought to room temperature before making the brownies. When baking the brownies, it’s also important to remember that the ovens vary and you may need to bake them for longer or shorter, depending on the oven, fan, pan etc, so start keeping an eye on the brownies after about 25 minutes.
