Panday also weighs in on the future of Guyana's sugar industry, arguing that politics—not a lack of funding—is behind its rapid decline. He contends that despite billions of dollars being poured into the sector, political interference by the ruling People's Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has crippled the industry. As Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Panday further accuses the Government of frustrating the work of the parliamentary watchdog. He claims Government MPs have repeatedly declined requests to attend committee meetings since its first sitting, effectively stalling the PAC's work and limiting its oversight of public spending.
