Although Jesus explained the importance and need for us to repent, the parable of the fig tree explained that God is patient. None of us are unworthy of God's forgiveness, and the parable of the fig tree explains that God is watching over us and caring for us in a way that it trying to lead us to Him. The parables of Jesus explain to us the ways in which God loves us, what He wants from us, who he is, and what the kingdom of Heaven is like.
