Worlds largest propeller plane - Antonov AN-22 - Landing and Takeoff at Manchester Airport
Friday 1st December brought the Antonov AN-22 to Manchester Airport. It is the largest propeller aircraft flying today. The aircraft landed from Helsinki at approximately midday on RWY 05L at Manchester Airport, and took off at 14:30, again on RWY 05L, taxiing right past us and giving us a great view of this incredible machine. It was in to take an engine to Holguin, Cuba for a Thomas Cook Airlines Airbus A330-200 which had had gone tech in Holguin and required another engine. As Thomas Cook are based in Manchester, thats where most of their spare engines are, especially for the UK arm of the company. The aircraft will be back later on next week to bring back the old engine.
