Budapest Walk from Kertész Street to Kossuth Square 🫧

Join me on a warm early Monday afternoon walk through Budapest, starting from the corner of Kertész Street and Dohány Street. The route follows Kertész Street toward Liszt Ferenc Square, where we take a look at the beautiful building of the Liszt Academy of Music. Built in 1907 and designed by Flóris Korb and Kálmán Giergl, the academy is one of Budapest’s outstanding Art Nouveau landmarks. From there, the walk continues across Andrássy Avenue and along Jókai Street to Nyugati Railway Station. After crossing Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Road, we continue through Stollár Béla Street, passing Honvéd Square and its small green park, before reaching the area near Olympic Park. The final part of the walk leads along Balassi Bálint Street to Kossuth Square, one of Budapest’s most iconic public spaces. Surrounded by elegant buildings, colorful flowers and the Hungarian Parliament, the square had a playful summer moment during this walk: children and adults were enjoying the cooling mist rising from between the stones. In the heat, it was both funny and wonderfully refreshing. The walk ends on the escalator going down to the Kossuth Square metro station.
