El Cerrito is a municipality in Colombia located in the department of Valle del Cauca. The municipality is known culturally, touristically and economically because in its jurisdiction is the Hacienda El Paraíso, the place where the events of the novel María, masterpiece of the Valle del Cauca writer Jorge Isaacs, took place. Also part of its territory belongs to the Las Hermosas national natural park. It is located east of Cali, the capital of the department, about 47 km away.
