Known for his conscious lyrics and "new wave roots" sound, he bridges the gap between classic 1970s Jamaican heritage and modern reggae. Dahvid Slur grew up in the nearby community of Jones Town, surrounded by the rich musical heritage of reggae. Music was always a part of his life; his parents, his brother, and his neighbors all heavily influenced his passion. Dahvid attended Trench Town High School, where he honed his vocal skills as a member of the choir and quickly learned to play the guitar and steel pans. Immersed in the rhythms of reggae and dancehall, he developed a distinctive sound that resonates with anyone who hears it. Dahvid’s music blends reggae roots with a fresh, modern twist, creating a unique style that captivates listeners. His recent tracks, like “Got Me Singing,” “Joy,” and “Stay Alive,” along with the fan-favorite “Cyah Kill Rasta,” a collaboration with the late Jo Mersa Marley from his six-track EP *New Age Rockaz*, showcase his ability to merge the future of reggae with its past. He has quickly become a standout talent in Jamaica’s dynamic reggae scene, building a strong local following in Kingston and across Jamaica, as well as attracting a growing international fan base. Dahvid’s music reflects the balance between optimism and the realities of daily life in Kingston. His lyrics offer a positive message while addressing the struggles faced by his community, resonating deeply with the next generation of Jamaicans and reggae lovers worldwide who appreciate conscious vibes that uplift the soul. For Dahvid, music is a way to express the teachings of Rastafari, centered on love, compassion, and understanding. Among his greatest influences, Dahvid cites reggae legends like Sizzla, I-Wayne, Chronixx, Protoje, Damian Marley, and Bob Marley and the Wailers, along with heritage artists such as Gregory Isaacs, Marcia Griffiths, Beres Hammond, and Alton Ellis.
