Ya Ba Ye - Ofra Haza 1989
One of the most "exotic" dance songs I've heard in a club in the 80s! Ofra Haza was an internationally reknowned artist from Israel and it's unfortunate that she died of AIDS in 2000 when she was only 42 years old. Sigh. RIP Ofra. She was introduced to audiences outside of Israel through hip hop and pop recordings in the 80s. Eric B and Rakim and M.A.R.R.S. sampled her and placed her voice in their recordings. "Pump Up The Volume" by M.A.R.R.S. is one of them.
