@Backflow Preventer Problems and the Solution: Installing a Submersible Pump In this video, we are replacing a main drainage line for a villa in Obour City, 6th District. In recent years, we have seen an increase in heavy rainfall. Unfortunately, in some areas, the main drainage lines cannot handle the volume of water flowing from the rainwater collection chambers. Consequently, sewage backs up into villas, garages, and storage rooms, including basements. Therefore, some people install a backflow preventer at the beginning of the drainage line externally, inside the main manhole, or in a private room. However, there is a hidden problem with this: rodents, such as rats and mice. Mice often gather inside the drainage chambers or main manholes, and from there, rats begin to enter the drainage lines of villas or houses, causing significant damage. This is why some people resort to installing a backflow preventer. However, this doesn't deter the rats at all. The rats eat away at the inner edges of the bounce-off seal, causing the door or bounce-off to fall. Consequently, the rats enter, and water seeps into the house and basements. For this reason, we separate the upper or surface area from the basement by installing a submersible pump to remove the water.
