Unlike historic military camps in the Philippines, Camp AWOL is a modern eco-tourism campsite designed for outdoor recreation, camping, relaxation, and nature immersion. The name "AWOL" is commonly known as the military term "Absent Without Official Leave", but the campsite uses the name as a playful reference to escaping the stress of city life and disconnecting from everyday routines.
