Quand le VTT devient de l’alpinisme

We crossed paths with a mountaineer wearing crampons... right where we had come to ride our mountain bikes! That moment perfectly sums up this adventure. Late in the spring, the high alpine peaks are still largely covered in snow. After a long analysis, we finally found a line linking together a series of ridges that were almost completely dry. An unlikely route, right on the boundary between extreme MTB and mountaineering. Together with Thomas Claire, we set off on a long alpine mission towards a remote summit rising above 2,800 m. Long hike-a-bike sections, snow, exposed ridgelines and technical terrain follow one another for hours in an environment as demanding as it is isolated. As is often the case with Thomas, things don't go exactly as planned... Whenever we ride together, conditions are rarely straightforward! After a first descent along a snowy ridge, we continue our climb all the way to the summit. We hesitated more than once, came close to turning back, but eventually kept pushing on. Then begins more than twenty minutes of committed riding in the high mountains, with a descent that links together snow, cornices, rocky ridges, loose scree, technical rock sections and mountain singletrack. A succession of exceptional terrain that makes this one of the most varied adventures we've ever filmed. An adventure where MTB sometimes meets mountaineering, in a wild, demanding and spectacular environment, but always with plenty of laughs along the way. Enjoy the film!
