Gallagher declines to accept court findings clearing Reynolds and Brown of Higgins cover-up

Finance Minister Katy Gallagher faced renewed scrutiny at Senate estimates over both the Reynolds–Brown cases and her past claims of a political cover-up in the Brittany Higgins matter. Despite two superior courts finding there was no cover-up and that allegations against former minister Linda Reynolds and chief of staff Fiona Brown had “no foundation”, Senator Gallagher declined to accept the judgments, saying only that she had “read” them. Liberal Senator Anne Ruston repeatedly pressed her to acknowledge the accusations were unfounded, while Gallagher maintained she had “nothing further to say”. The hearing also saw Finance officials questioned over their handling of the litigation, the use of high-cost senior counsel, and whether the Commonwealth has met its model litigant obligations. #court #australia Connect With The Australian Online 🖥 https://www.theaustralian.com.au Follow Us: Facebook ►   / theaustralian   Instagram ► https://bit.ly/39w5T2j Twitter ►   / australian   LinkedIn ►   / posts   🎧 Podcast ► https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nati... 🎥 Subscribe To Our YouTube Channel: http://bit.ly/1OT7tw4 #breakingnews #news #headlinenews
