Reparando una sierra circular Stanley que funcionaba de forma intermitente

🔧 In this video, I'll show you how to diagnose and repair a Stanley electric saw that suddenly stopped working. The owner told me the tool simply wouldn't turn on, so in this tutorial, we'll see step-by-step how to identify the problem, check the electrical components, and replace the damaged parts to restore it to normal operation. Starting the diagnosis: The first thing we do is plug in the saw to see if it turns on. Seeing that it doesn't respond, we carefully disassemble it, removing the main cover to access the brushes and internal wiring. With a continuity tester, we check the brushes for continuity and confirm that they are receiving current. This indicates that the problem isn't with the brushes, so we move on to the cable and the switch. 🔧 *Cable and switch inspection* Upon examining the cable, we notice that it has several additions and previous repairs, suggesting that it may be internally damaged. We remove the cover and disassemble the switch to test it with the continuity tester. When the switch is flipped, the light doesn't turn on, meaning there's no current flow. This leads us to examine the cable more closely, as internal wires often break with use, even if the outer plastic appears intact. 🔧 *Identifying the Cable Fault* After disassembling and testing several connections, we confirmed that the problem lies in the cable: it lacks continuity at certain points. This is common when cables are bent, stretched, or internally broken. To fix it, we replaced the damaged cable with a new piece, ensuring it had the same safety and resistance characteristics. 🔧 *Replacing the Cable and Plug* The original cable had an integrated plug that couldn't be reused, so we obtained a used plug in good condition to adapt to the new cable. We cut the cable to the appropriate length and connected the three conductors: live, neutral, and ground. For the grounding connection, we used a fixing screw, making sure the cable end was facing the tightening direction to prevent it from coming loose. Since the saw didn't have a clamp to hold the cable and prevent it from coming loose when pulled, we added a copper wire to the edge to secure it firmly. Once the cable was secured, we put the cover back on and checked that the conductors weren't pinched by the screws. Finally, we replaced the damaged plug with a new one, ensuring a safe and stable connection to the electrical current. 🔧 *Final Test* With everything reassembled, we plugged in the saw and tested its operation. This time it turned on correctly, confirming that the problem was with the cable and the plug. Thanks to the replacement and proper installation, the tool is ready to work again. ✨ *Conclusions and Recommendations* This type of failure is very common in frequently used power tools. Cables often break internally due to constant movement, and plugs can become damaged over time. Before considering replacing the entire tool, it's advisable to check these basic components, as the solution is often simple and inexpensive. In this tutorial you learned: How to test for continuity with a test light. How to identify if the problem lies with the brushes, the switch, or the cable. How to replace a damaged cable and adapt a used cap. How to properly install the plug and secure the cable to prevent future damage.
