It has a depressing mood and a minimalist arrangement, and the song tells the drama of a relationship's end in two versions: first, Gotye's side, and then, the counterpoint in Kimbra's voice – it's a musical DR that everyone sang along to in tears. But at the height of this success, a big problem arose. Here in Brazil, the family responsible for the legacy of a musician named Luiz Bonfá, who at that point had already passed away ten years earlier from prostate cancer, were obviously impacted by this song, just like everyone else.
