The Council of Middle East Studies and Chaplain's Office at Yale hosted this event: Unveiling the Study Quran with one of the general editors Dr. Joseph Lumbard, providing an overview of The Study Quran. The Study Quran offers a new, accessible, and accurate translation as well as numerous introductory essays, extensive study notes, and a side-by-side comparative study of the Qur’an commentary tradition for the entire Qur’an drawn from the breadth of Islam’s legal, theological, and mystical traditions, both Sunni and Shi’ite. From Wiki: Joseph E.B. Lumbard is currently a professor at The American University of Sharjah in the Department of Arabic and Translation Studies. A translator, commentary author and general editor for the Study Quran, he is also a former Advisor for Interfaith Affairs to King Abdullah II of Jordan[1] and the author, editor, and translator of several articles and books on topics of Islamic philosophy, Sufism, and Quranic Studies. Lumbard is a frequent lecturer and has taken part in several Interfaith dialogues, among them the Common Word initiative.
