Change transmission oil filter, then flush with approx. 15-20 liters of fresh ATF oil. The automatic transmission 722.9 is also installed in various Chrysler and Jeep models, especially when Mercedes Benz was still called Daimlerchrysler. This was a 4-Matic transmission, but that doesn't matter because the transfer case is only flanged to the rear of the automatic transmission and there is no oil connection.
