In TEDxUdine Nove Muse abbiamo indentificato nuove nove muse ispiratrici del futuro: Consapevolezza, Arte, Musica, Linguaggio, Ironia, Legami, Identità, Sostevivibilità e Conoscenza. Questo talk rappresenta la musa della Consapevolezza. La bellezza, concetto di difficile definizione, ha sempre posseduto quella che Kant definiva “una pretesa all’universalità”, ovvero una dimensione sociale, collettiva. Recenti studi di neuroscienze hanno dimostrato che essa è stata una forza biologica fondamentale per la sopravvivenza della nostra specie, e agisce ancora al fondo delle nostre scelte estetiche. Ma nell’epoca digitale, in cui l’uomo ha trasformato l’ambiente a sua immagine e somiglianza, la bellezza sembra ridotta ad esercizio narcisistico dell’affermazione di sé, esaurendo il suo ruolo biologico. L’auspicio è di tornare a legare la bellezza ai corpi fisici anziché alle immagini digitali, per evitare di fare la fine di Narciso. Questo intervento è stato presentato a un evento TEDx che utilizza il format della conferenza TED, ma è stato organizzato in maniera indipendente da una comunità locale. This talk represents the muse of Awareness. Beauty is a concept of difficult definition and always had what Kant called “a claim to universality”, that is a social, collective dimension. Recent neuroscience studies have shown that beauty has been a foundamental biological strenght for the survival of our species, and still operates in our aestethical choices. But in this digital age, in which man has transformed the environment in his own image, beauty seems just a narcissistic exercise of self-affirmation, exhausting its biological role. The hope is to go back to tying beauty to real physical bodies rather than digital images, to avoid ending up like Narcissus. Il cinema della possibilità (Napoli 2016). È traduttore e curatore di numerose opere del filosofo sloveno Slavoj Zizek e redattore della rivista “Aut Aut”. He taught History of Aesthetics at the University of Trieste. His interest is the relationship between cinema and philosophy. He has published articles on Deleuze, Lyotard, Hitchcock, Cronenberg, among others. Among his recent publications we remember The films think alone (Milan 2013) and, with P. Tomaselli, Suspense! The cinema of possibility (Naples 2016). He is translator and editor of numerous works by the Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek and editor of the magazine “Aut Aut”.
