Avanti West Coast full journey London Euston to Holyhead 01/09/2025

Journey onboard 805007 (coupled to 805005) as the 1D83 0902 London Euston to Holyhead and Chester calling at Stafford, Crewe and Chester, where the train divided. While 805007 continued to Flint, Prestatyn, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno Junction, Bangor (Gwynedd) and Holyhead, 805005 detached and terminated at Chester before doing 1A32 1132 Chester to London Euston. Last year this service 1D93 along with its return working 1A62 were still operated by 221s before the AT300s took over with the December 2024 timetable change. Definitely better than the 221s, even if the AT300s cannot tilt and are limited to 110mph on the WCML as a result! Electric power from Euston to Crewe then diesel power from Crewe to Holyhead, as the North Wales Coast line is not electrified!
