Covkartsport 2017 National Round 2 - Glan-Y-Gors | Jakub Kot Motorsport

Round 2 of the Covkartsport National Series took place at GYG on 21/05/17, with a threat of showers during the day but fortunately it stayed dry. A fantastic track to drive, one of my favourites on the calendar, but things didn't go too well this time... Race 1, straight after practice. In my three laps I wasn't quite feeling right in the kart, I felt like these karts were faster last year. I wasn't wrong, I found in the race. All the other karts were much faster as I struggled with a lack of power. That's unfortunately part of rental kart racing... I started in P3, finished all the way down in 11th. Race 2, a much stronger kart this time and I was developing some pace. Unfortunately the guy behind me decided to make a last lap lunge in the hairpin which sent us both spinning. Another 11th place finish (from 8th on the grid). The final race of the day, again the kart was strong and it was looking like a decent race to start with. Quite a bit of contact throughout the race though and I really struggled to find overtaking opportunities. A 10th place finish from 9th on the grid this time. Next time it's the Open Championship Round at Whilton Mill on 18/06/17.
