Gruyères SWITZERLAND – Medieval Town and Home to the world Famous Cheese! Beautiful Swiss Village

Gruyères is a beautiful medieval town in the canton of Fribourg. It's a very cultural place full of history. Gruyères is a great place for foodie enthusiasts. Local delicacies are of course the Gruyères cheese, fondue à la moitié-moitié and desserts such as berries or meringues with double cream. It's a very well preveserved medieval piece of heritage that operates today as a museum. The castle has a wonderful garden as well as beautiful and rich interiors. Visit the HR-Giger museum, which showcases the artwork of Hans-Ruedi Giger, who created the "Aliens" for the movie of the same name. The HR-Giger bar is also a highlight: in there, you even may take photos! The Tibetan museum showcases the vajrayana (tibetan) Buddhism and culture of this unique civilization. Very beautiful is the blend of the tibetan museum into the Christian chapel. Be aware that Gruyères can be very touristy: This definitely is the case during the Summer months July and August as well as on weekends. This medieval village is best visited in June or September... on weekdays! Combine a visit to Gruyères with the nearby peak called Moléson; a very underrated summit of the Swiss Alps in Fribourg.
