Please join us on a #walkingtour as we discover the history of Pickering Castle in North Yorkshire. The mound was raised by William the Conqueror. The stonework on the mound & around the inner courtyard or ward is of the 13th Century date & was built for Henry 3rd when the Castle was a necessary defense against the Scots. The outer entrance, the curtain wall and its 3 towers were built on the orders of Edward 2nd in 1323-1326.
