BRAND NEW Etihad Business Class Suites on the 787-9 Dreamliner from Zurich to Abu Dhabi

Join me as I fly on Etihad’s brand-new 787-9 from Zurich to Abu Dhabi, featuring their latest Business Class cabin — a product I’ve been eager to try after many flights in their older-generation seats. At first glance, the new design is a big step forward: far more private, sleek, and with plenty of added storage. But not everything is perfect. The seat felt noticeably narrow at the feet, making it less comfortable for sleeping compared to the older layout. And while the suite doors are a great concept, they weren’t working on this flight — so I couldn’t fully experience that signature feature. On the plus side, food and service were solid, though the crew didn’t quite deliver the same warmth and attentiveness I’ve come to expect from Etihad. So, is this new Business Class really an improvement, or does the old seat still have the edge? Let’s take a closer look.
