3 REASONS THE GOSPELS ARE ANONYMOUS

Who really wrote the Gospels? 📜 Are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John truly the authors—or are these names later attributions? In this video, we explore the authorship of the New Testament Gospels from a Muslim perspective, analyzing why many scholars—both Christian and secular—agree that the Gospel writers may have been anonymous. I have boiled down my points into 3 main reasons. The Gospels are anonymous due to the lack of internal evidence. Nowhere in any of the gospels are the authors identified. The chain through which the alleged gospel writers connect to the disciples or eye witnesses is non existent. There is weak external evidence that shows a pattern of progression from no attribution, to gradually attributing the works to apostles without naming by Justin Martyr in 155AD. The first proper attribution comes from Ireneaus in 180AD. Additionally, christian apologists rely heavily on oral tradition to defend the gospels... even though they attack the hadith on that same point. Papias is the main source of the origination of the Christian tradition, but even there, there is a lot of inconsistencies with the story of Matthew and Mark. Alhamdulillah. Watch as Council of Trent, Frank Turek, and Inspiring Philosophy get debunked by a Muslim over the gospels and the bible being anonymous.
