CSX 911 on Tampa Rock Local L778 / BNSF on Tampa Intermodal i044 / Street Running Downtown Tampa
A very busy Tuesday November night in Tampa, featuring a long rock train to Neve Spur led by CSX 911 'Spirit of Our First Responders" and 3 other CSX road locomotives, plus a foreign power BNSF engine leading the Tampa to JAX Intermodal i044, street running downtown Tampa, the new Amtrak Floridian P040, and two other locals L755 and L781! After the Amtrak Floridian left Tampa, led by a GE Genesis P42 with a Siemens Charger ALC-42 trailing, i044 came out of Yeoman Yard with a cut of Tropicana juice cars to start building the nightly intermodal. It pulled up to the A Line, then backed into one of the Uceta yard ramps to pick up its first cut of intermodal cars. It was then seen at Orient Road, backing towards the yard again to pick up its second cut from the other Uceta yard ramp. Lastly, it left Tampa under darkness over the Tampa Bypass Canal where its full consist can be seen. Next, Drew Park autorack local L755 returned to Yeoman yard at N 50th St with only the engine, then a while later a short L781 was caught at N 39th St heading for the Brooksville Subdivision. L778 then crossed N 39th St on the A Line slowly, allowing a nice view of the popular CSX engine number 911 'The Spirit of Our First Responders' plus 3 other CSX road locomotives, pulling by Neve Wye to back the train up Neve Spur. It was then caught with 2 riders on the rear car backing up slowly on Neve Wye S, allowing another slow pass of CSX 911 and the other locomotives. Late at night, Y201 made its return street run through downtown Tampa on Polk Street. In the past this job has run under train number Y295, it was returning to Yeoman yard with 4 empty covered hoppers from the old Port of Tampa near Picnic Island. Y201 was also caught at Nebraska Street near Tampa Union Station with a nice city skyine backdrop, and then again at the TECO Streetcar diamond with the CSX A Line. Finally, southbound and northbound TECO trolleys also crossed the diamond, the second one with a scary scowl! Most of this video was shot using extremely high ISOs between ISO 12,800 and ISO 80,000 using specialized night videography techniques and extensive post-processing. At the Tampa Bypass Canal and at several other spots in this video, there was no direct lighting, not even streetlights, and the scene would have been almost totally dark to the naked eye. Most railfan video shot under similar conditions appears almost completely black and grainy with most visible details blurred out. All video was shot handheld with a Canon R8 and RF 24-240mm f4-63 lens (daytime) and RF 35mm f1.8 IS STM macros lens.
