Japanese Maple Airlayering Taking Way Too Long

Not everything always goes according to plan when growing bonsai! Airlayers of Japanese maple root normally in some 6 weeks. However, some cultivars and some weather conditions make this a much longer process. It variers from year to year, and from variety to variety. Here I am layering Acer palmatum 'nishiki gawa' and Acer Palmatum 'seigen' and not without problems.
