This was a massive accomplishment thanks to Allah firstly, then to all your genuine support and generous donations. We have been focused on providing da'wah and support for the community through various activities and programs such as Islamic education for the youth. As you all are aware, the masjid design is not adequate nor appropriate with regards to keeping the male and female congregation separate. The building currently only has one main entrance for all. This is a problem that needs to be resolved as soon as possible. The new plans include a completely separate entrance for sisters as well as a designated private wudhu area for them Insha Allah. We have already dedicated ourselves to resolving this problem and have started the work as we intend for the changes to be completed before Ramadhan, with the intention to make the blessed month an auspicious and spiritually uplifting experience for both brothers and sisters. We know many feel uncomfortable attending with the current masjid layout. The plans are to not only renovate the masjid where it is segregation friendly but also update the interior and improve facilities to decrease maintenance/running costs. The plans are as follows: Complete restructure of ground floor layout Designated women's entrance/ablution area/prayer hall/kitchen New carpets for both men and women prayer area Energy efficient lighting Interior walls (retain heat) Under floor heating Wudhu area (including shower facilities for i'tikaaf) The cost of the project is a target of £50,000 - £75,000 (we are still obtaining quotes, and these projects tend to run over the initial price anticipated most of the time) This will also include the running costs for this year, which is only increasing day by day, Subhan Allah. The appeal will run until and through Ramadhan. Please donate generously for the sake of Allah and to benefit your deen and dunya. Whatever you give towards this project is a "Sadaqah Jariyah" (an ongoing charity). Whenever someone benefits from the changes in the masjid, you will gain some reward Insha Allah.
