Digital simplex radios are increasingly being installed in vehicles by four-wheel drive and off-road enthusiasts. This time, we'll be installing the Alinco DR-DPM60 in-car transceiver. We'll be using a magnetic antenna. We'll be combining the antenna element of a Daiichi Denpa Kogyo MR350S with a Nippon Antenna suction cup and magnetic base. Surprisingly, this short antenna mounted on the roof actually works better than a longer antenna mounted low on the rear hatch.
