Hello. This is Latingo, teaching Salsa and Bachata in Guri and Namyangju. Summary of Madrid Step Sequence & Method 1. On the first beat, take a step with a change of direction. (The angle of the foot changes by about 90 degrees. This applies to both men and women.) This is how we say the center of gravity is firmly shifted. The man takes the first beat while pulling the woman's right hand. The woman also follows the man, firmly shifting her center of gravity. 2. On the second beat, rub the floor and change direction again. At this moment, the man should feel like he is pushing the woman, and the woman should feel like she is being pushed by the man's hand. (This is the moment when their tensions collide.) 3. The 3/4 beat is the basic in place. 4. On the fifth beat, change direction (about 90 degrees) before the foot touches the ground, and then take the step. Do this exactly the same way as in method 1. It is too late to change direction after taking the step. On the 5/6 beat, rub the floor to change direction again, and on the 7/8 beat, perform the basic step in place. For those new to the Madrid Step, this movement itself may feel awkward. However, if you practice it correctly over 100 times, it will gradually become more natural.
