The College That Travels the World | The LIU Global Documentary
If you would like to learn more about LIU Global, don't hesitate to send us an email at [email protected] Director's Note: When I first learned about Long Island University Global, I had two questions. I wondered why I hadn’t heard about the school before and then I wanted to know when I could start. Throughout my degree, I was constantly amazed by the experiences I had each semester. I think it’s safe to say that one of the mantras of Global is, “I can’t believe we get to do this,” whether that’s jumping off waterfalls in Fiji, hiking volcanos in New Zealand, camping in the Australian Outback, or conducting a masters-level thesis as an undergraduate. When I tell someone about LIU Global they usually respond, “I wish I knew about it when I was choosing a college.” Personally, it was pure luck that I found Global, and I’m grateful for that every single day. As I started my final semester, I knew I wanted to create something I wished had existed when I first discovered LIU Global: a single comprehensive explanation of what the program is, what it’s actually like to be a student, and what graduates can do with the degree. This project began as a conversation between Dean Barton and me about creating a short video with maybe five interviews. It eventually grew into this: a 90-minute documentary built from 27 interviews with Global students, alumni, and faculty, alongside footage captured across all four years of the degree. My goal was twofold: to help prospective students discover and learn about LIU Global, and to create a time capsule that the classes of 2023 through 2029 can look back on and remember a few of the many incredible moments we shared. My deepest thanks go to everyone who took part in this film and to the students, alumni, and faculty who make LIU Global what it is. To future students, I wish you all the best as your journey is just beginning.
