Selective herbicides are designed to kill certain types of plants while leaving others unharmed. This is because they target specific biochemical processes that are unique to those target plants. Non-selective herbicides kill all plants that they come into contact with. They are typically used to clear large areas of vegetation, such as before construction or to control invasive weeds.
