Melanisean Cultural and Arts Festival Opening Ceremony

FIJI PARTICIPATES AT THE OPENING OF THE 2018 MACFEST More than 80 Fijians who are representing Fiji at the 2018 Melanesian Arts and Cultural Festival participated at the opening ceremony yesterday in Honiara, Solomon Islands. With the theme, "Past Recollections, Future Connections", the festival brings together about 2000 artists and performers from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Solomon Islands. Welcoming the delegates to the 2018 MACFEST, Solomon Islands Minister for Culture and Tourism Hon. Bartholomew Parapolo said that the people of Solomon Islands looked forward to hosting the MSG group of countries for the next 10 days. Fiji was led by the Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs, Naipote Katonitabua.
