2008 Ford Edge Duratec Water Pump and Timing Chain Replacement

In this video I show the process of replacing the water pump, timing chain set and thermostat on a 2008 Ford Edge with a 3.5L Duratec engine. Please reach out to me with any questions. Water pump bolts = 89 in/lbs = 7.4 ft/lbs Timing cover bolts: Step 1 Bolts 1-22 = 89 in/lbs = 7.4 ft lbs Bolts 23-25 = 132 in/lbs = 11 ft/lbs Step 2 Bolts 1-22 = 18 ft/lbs Bolts 23-25 = 55 ft/lbs Timing chain tensioners = 89 in/lbs = 7.4 ft/lbs Timing chain guide bolts = 89 in/lbs = 7.4 ft/lbs Camshaft sprocket bolts (Torque to yield, bolts must be replaced if loosened) Step 1 Tighten to 30 ft lbs Step 2 Loosen 1 turn Step 3 Tighten to 18 ft/lbs Step 4 Tighten additional 180 degrees Harmonic balancer Step 1 Tighten to 89 ft/lbs Step 2 Loosen 1 turn Step 3 Tighten to 37 ft/lbs Step 4 Tighten an additional 90 degrees Intake manifold bolts Step 1 Tighten in sequence to hand tight Step 2 Tighten in sequence to 89ft/lbs = 7.4 ft/lbs Special tools and basic tools required: Harmonic balancer puller Amazon ASIN # B08M3XFCV1 Universal harmonic balancer installer tool Amazon ASIN # B0F5HKT6YC Camshaft holding tool set Amazon ASIN # B09L3X7GMS Long chain wrench with rubber pad Torx socket set up to T55 Metric socket set Metric 1/4" socket set with ratchet, wobbly and extensions Metric 1/2" drive socket set with ratchet and breaker bar Metric 3/8" drive deep and shallow socket set with ratchet and extensions Metric combination wrench set Small and large toques wrenches 3/8" - 1/4" socket adapter 1/2" - 3/8" socket adapter Screwdriver set Small and large picks Small flexible putty knife for gasket scraping Work light and headlamp Supplies recommended: 3 cans brake cleaner 1 large tube ultra grey silicone Pig pads Rags 5 quarts engine oil and filter 2 Gallons concentrated long life engine coolant Required parts: Valve cover gasket set with VVT grommets (Rock Auto) 2 stretch bolts for cam sprockets (Local parts store) Harmonic balancer stretch bolt (Local parts store) Timing chain, tensioner and guide kit (Rock Auto) OEM Ford water pump (Ford dealer) Upper intake gasket set (Rock auto) Recommended parts: Thermostat and gasket (Local parts store) Spark plugs (Local parts store) Keywords: Ford Edge, 3.5 Duratec, Duratec 35, Explorer, Flex, Fusion, Sport, F-150, Taurus, X, MKX, MKZ, MKS, MKT, Mercury Sable, Mazda CX-9, 3.5L EcoBoost
