In this video, I'll show you how to create a simple chrome effect in Photoshop. To create the chrome effect, I use the following technique: ____________________ Step 1 1. Add an object to the canvas. 2. In the object's layer styles, apply a fill color. I choose gray. 3. I also apply Bevel & Emboss in the layer styles, Inner Bevel style, Smooth technique. I set the depth to around 600-700%, smoothness to around 10, and adjust the size so that the depth edges meet at the center of the object. ____________________ Step 2 1. Convert the layer to a smart object and apply Bevel & Emboss again. Style: Outer Bevel, Smooth technique (this will add a chrome edge to the edge of the object). I set the depth to around 100%, smoothness to 0, and size to around 4-6 pixels, depending on the object. Also, the shadow and highlight contour should be set to something other than linear to create a more flowing effect. 2. Apply the Inner Glow layer style to create white stripes near the edge. Apply a white to transparent gradient, Screen mode. 3. Apply the Gradient Fill layer style in Overlay mode. Set the gradient from black to white and back to black. 4. To add a subtle 3D effect, you can add a subtle shadow to the chrome object. ____________________ Step 3 To add the final chrome effect, add a curves layer and add two peaks to the graph at the top and bottom (more details in the video).
