I followed a local guide deep into the tropical rainforest of Xishuangbanna, a part of China that feels completely different from the cities most people know. Over the course of a single day, we traveled through rubber plantations, crossed rivers, discovered poisonous snakes and edible plants, rode a bamboo raft, and shared a meal prepared beside the river.
