June 20, 2026. Manas County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang – Urumqi. Today I completed my second self-driving trip along the S101 National Defense Highway. The Danxia landforms along the highway remain the most striking scenery. I had expected the grasslands to be even greener closer to Urumqi, but that wasn't the case. Tonight I parked my RV at a repair shop. Tomorrow I'm heading to Chengdu to prepare for climbing the main and second peaks of Mount Siguniang. I haven't climbed a mountain in a long time, so I hope this trip goes smoothly.
