It is a popular attraction that illuminates several heritage sites in the historic city center, creating a magical and colorful experience for visitors. The event celebrates its 20th anniversary from April 15, 2023, to January 6, 2024. In this video, we give you an overview of some of th most beautiful stops along the light shows route in lovely Chartres, France! Illuminated Sites During Chartres en Lumieres include 21 locations in the medieval town that have their own light shows every night from dusk until 1am. The lighting via lasers and special lights of the illuminations varies according to the time of nightfall. Visitors are free to design their own itinerary and stroll through the city center at their own pace. The illuminated and often colourful sites can be geolocated on the Chartres en Lumieres map. The event highlights the city's heritage and includes significant landmarks such as the Chartres Cathedral. The cathedral is a Gothic masterpiece and one of the most representative, complete, and best-preserved Gothic cathedrals in France. The medieval statues and symbols literally seem to come alive via the lights! The West entry to the Chartres Cathedral has the biggest and longest laser light show of the walking circuit, being about 20 minutes long. Other notable sites in Chartres may also be included in the illumination, showcasing the city's cultural heritage and medieval features.
