"Texas is already strained": Data center opposition builds in Waco
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A new Gallup poll shows about 7 in 10 Americans oppose building data centers in their local area. That opposition gained momentum at a public forum hosted at the Waco Bridge, where residents and experts discussed concerns over water use, power demand and quality-of-life impacts tied to a proposed data center in the area. Ross resident Ernest Uptmore lives across the street from the proposed Lacy Lakeview data center site. He said his worries go beyond the big-picture resource questions. “The use of water, electricity,” Uptmore said. “In our case, living across the road, we’re worried about light pollution, noise pollution, heat pollution.” The panel included McLennan County Judge Scott Felton, data center expert Dr. Margaret Cook and state environmental policy expert Luke Metzger. All three flagged water use as a major concern, noting that Texas is already under strain. #DataCenter #LacyLakeview #Texas #WacoDataCenter For more Local News from KWTX: https://www.kwtx.com/ For more YouTube Content: / @kwtxnews10
