We Camped in the Most Isolated Valley in Georgia: Restricted Border Zone

We drove deep into the Georgian mountains to find a village where only nuns live, but our expedition hit a dead end at a river too dangerous to cross. This is Truso Valley—a place of wild wind, freezing nights, and sensitive geopolitics. In this episode, we attempt to enter the restricted border zone near the breakaway republic of South Ossetia. We navigate a narrow cliff-side track that feels like it’s crumbling into the gorge, only to find our path blocked by a rushing river. Stranded in "No Man's Land," we set up camp in the heart of the valley, surviving the freezing wind with our 5-year-old son. We eventually meet nomadic shepherds with 2,000 sheep who live off-grid in this harsh landscape, and we push our limits to see if we can finally get the military permit to cross the river into the restricted zone.
