Moravian Workbench Assembly Process

Mounting the top issues: Mounting the top with just dowels is the way Will Myers has his moravian workbench. For some reason, this did not work for me. I was having issues with the holdfasts where they would actually lift the top slightly when engaging the holdfast. I tried this dowel method twice by plugging the holes and trying again. It still didnt work so then I tried dominos as they are beefier than the dowels but the holdfast still kept lifting the top. I then resorted to using some ductile threaded plates and machine bolts to mount the top and now all works well. In the end, I’m actually happy with the metal fasteners since they allow me to easily lift one end of the bench to slide it away from the wall when more space is needed.
