CHP’de Hemşeriler Savaşı

A war of regional ties has erupted within the CHP. Following the departure of Özgür Özel's faction to form the New Party, Kılıçdaroğlu's faction has become embroiled in internal conflict. In the upcoming congress, which begins in September, the Kars faction of Gürsel Tekin, who wants to control Istanbul, is clashing with the Malatya faction of Battal İlgezdi and the Tokat and Erzincan factions of Selçuk Sarıyar. Tekin's Istanbul meeting, intended as a show of force against Kılıçdaroğlu, became a battleground between these regional groups. The lack of support from other groups resulted in an empty hall, and Tekin's showmanship backfired. There are rumors that Muharrem İnce and Oğuz Kaan Salıcı might be colluding to run for party leader against Kılıçdaroğlu at the CHP Congress expected in April.
