He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1973. He holds a Doctor of Historical Sciences (1989, with a dissertation titled "Parliamentary Democracy and the Political Tradition of the East") and is a professor. He has worked for a long time at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (leading researcher). Initially, he specialized in the study of the political history of Thailand and parliamentarism in Eastern countries. He speaks Thai, English, and French. He currently studies religious studies and the history of Russia. He is a professor in the Philosophy Department at MGIMO and the General Director of the Center for Church and International Relations at MGIMO. Professor of the Department of Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Doctrine Disciplines at the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology at the Russian Orthodox Institute of St. John the Theologian. Editor-in-chief of the two-volume "History of Russia. 20th Century" (the project was initially created under the supervision of A.I. Solzhenitsyn). A.B.
