First Day of Passenger Service on TFL Rail / Crossrail / Elizabeth Line’s NEW Class 345 trains. The video consists of the NEW purple, 7 carriage Bombardier train arriving at Liverpool Street shortly after 10am. The train left Liverpool street (Platform 15) on time and we arrive at Shenfield on time too, yeah on time surprisingly! The trains will be upgraded to 9 carriage trains by December 2018. The Passenger Information Display screen is shown too as well as interior and exterior views. Mark Ashdown from BBC London News can be seen in this video as well. Luckily the AC was working as it should have been, hence it was a cool 20degrees inside the train…yaay! The final shot is the train leaving Liverpool Street out of service. This train was meant to have onboard 4G wi-fi, but I didn’t know, hence I couldn’t check. Door Functionaliy: When a pair of doors has opened, they will close automatically after 2 seconds if the door sensor is not triggered. However when the core section opens, all sets of doors will be opened (by the driver) and (for safety reasons) will be kept open until the driver decides to close the doors. An additional option is available to keep the doors open whenever a passenger presses a button. Testing will still continue. The first Bombardier-built Class 345 for the Elizabeth Line entered passenger service on 22 June 2017, operating on the TfL Rail service between Liverpool Street and Shenfield. Media were present to report on these trains too! 345005 New Elizabeth Line Train The introduction of the first soon-to-be Elizabeth Line Class 345 was originally planned for late May 2017. However further testing was needed prior to the introduction of these Crossrail trains. For the moment these remain TfL Rail trains, with the first service being the 10:35 Shenfield return, leaving from Liverpool Street on Thursday 22 June 2017. A press pack had been invited, with a One Show (BBC) reporter recording a short piece prior to the unit's arrival. The unit (345 005) smoothly pulled into Platform 15 at 10:19am, giving a 15 minute or so window of opportunity for photographers/videographers to record what they needed, before heading north-eastwards.
