In this episode, the adventure begins in Malta. I'm moored to a buoy, exploring Valletta, taking the ferry across to the old town, and taking you along on a journey through one of the most impressive port cities in the Mediterranean. Ancient fortress walls, narrow streets, boats, ferries, history, and that special Maltese feeling right on the water. Then it's time to cast off again. From Malta, I sail towards Sicily. This time not quite alone – I'm taking someone with me who was looking for a ride to Sicily. For me, that means: a new dynamic on board, new conversations, new impressions, and another little taste of real boat life. During the crossing, a special moment occurs: I hoist the gennaker for the first time. A huge light-wind sail that immediately gives the boat a completely different feel. More sail area, more speed, more adventure – and, of course, new challenges on board. The course takes us further towards Sicily, past the mighty Mount Etna. From the water, this volcano appears quite different: enormous, impressive, and somehow menacing. An active volcano right on the coast as you sail past – these are exactly the kinds of moments you take this trip for. Then it's on along the Sicilian coast towards Catania. New coastlines, new bays, new anchorages, new people. In Catania, I meet other people, we anchor in beautiful bays, and I immerse myself further in life on the water between Malta, Sicily, volcanoes, harbors, and Mediterranean adventures.
